Honest Gotham Steel Cookware Review – Avoid it!

Gotham Steel Cookware is a popular product, but it’s not worth the money.

The pans are made of a material that is advertised as non-stick and scratch-resistant. However, this coating scratches and peels very easily. The company has been contacted many times about this issue, but they have not addressed it.

Gotham Steel Complaints

There have been many complaints about Gotham Steel cookware (check the listing here). The most common complaint is that the coating scratches and peels very easily. There have also been complaints about the quality of the cookware, as well as the customer service.

Gotham Steel should be known for its durable, high-quality cookware but they are not. The first problem with Gotham steels’ product line-up namely that the pans don’t distribute heat evenly. Food won’t brown or caramelize on top like it should; another issue? After only a few uses (or less), your new saucepan will start wearing off its nonstick surface because there isn’t enough protection against metal utensils touching those rough edges where peeling has occurred from excessive use! Plus customer service can be unhelpful at best when you call them up regarding any problems you may have encountered.

If you’re looking for quality cookware, Gotham Steel is not the way to go. There are plenty of other options on the market that will better suit your needs. Do your research and invest in a product that will last you longer than a few uses.

Honestly, you’d better buy this Amazon Basics cookware.

Honest Gotham Steel Cookware Review - Avoid it!

My experience with it

When I was on the hunt for a new cookware set, the first one that caught my eye ultimately wasn’t the one I ended up purchasing. The product description warned that the pots and pans were only suitable for LOW and MEDIUM heat, which didn’t suit my needs, as I often need to boil water on high heat. So, I continued my search and stumbled upon the Gotham collection. The set looked fantastic, and there were no warnings about heat limitations.

However, after unboxing the set, discarding the packaging, and reading the Thank You card that came with it, I was incredibly disappointed to discover that these pans were also only intended for use with low and medium heat. Now, I’m stuck with a brand new set of pans that I can’t use on high heat. Before writing this review, I even searched the product page for the words ‘high’ and ‘medium’ but found no mention of such a crucial limitation. It’s a shame that the seller took my money for these not-so-kitchen-ready pots and pans. I guess I’ll have to repurpose them as flower pots instead.

Not non-stick cookware

Gotham Steel’s “nonstick” pans are a huge letdown. I had these for two weeks and everything is stuck to the pan, even pork bacon! The food burns when placed on it in my opinion since they’re so difficult to clean afterward. I would have been better off just buying cast iron ones instead.

Gotham Steel Cookware Review

The idea behind this product was great but the execution fails miserably. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Inefficient design

Gotham Steel’s pan handles are shorter than average, which makes it difficult to maneuver the pan when it’s hot. The company also offers a very limited warranty on their products, which is another red flag.

It is not scratch-free

Gotham Steel Cookware Not Scratch Free

The pan came with a little white sticker that said “do not use metal utensils” on it. What? They say their cookware is scratch-free, but I know how it goes in and makes ugly scars all over your nice pots and pans!

Nonmatching colors

Also, Gotham Steel is trying to sell you a matching set, but the colors don’t match! Super disappointed with this product. The pans are much lighter in color and not copper at all – would never recommend it for that reason alone.

Gotham Steel Cookware Colors

The cover photo appears to be photoshopped so they can make people think it’s perfect when really it’s just okay or even better off without their products.

Gotham Steel is not a good company and its products are terrible. Do not waste your money on them. There are plenty of other options out there that are better in every way. Save your money and buy something else.

Gotham Steel Class Action Lawsuit

As of my knowledge cutoff date in September 2021, there has been a class action lawsuit filed against Gotham Steel for allegedly misleading customers about the durability and non-stick capabilities of their cookware. The plaintiffs claim that Gotham Steel marketed their products as being ultra-durable, scratch-resistant, and non-stick, without the need for added fats or oils.

However, customers have reported that the cookware’s non-stick coating deteriorated and scratched easily, contradicting the company’s claims. The lawsuit alleges that Gotham Steel violated consumer protection laws and engaged in deceptive marketing practices by making false and misleading representations about the quality and performance of their cookware.

Gotham Steel Warranty

Gotham Steel offers a 60-day money-back guarantee for all products, as well as a 1-year warranty for all cookware. Gotham Steel customer service, you can reach them at 1-800-223-0448. You can also reach them by email at info@gothamsteel.com.

Why Warranties Matter

  1. One pot was already scratched after one use so I emailed customer support about it.
  2. Customer support wasn’t helpful and said there is no warranty for scratches caused by metal objects or dishwashers, even though those are both things that are advertised with this product.

“As seen on TV” stuff

And it is always a gamble, and Gotham Steel is no exception. Their pans are overpriced and scratch easily, their customer service is terrible, and the colors don’t even match. Save your money and buy something else. There are plenty of other options out there that are better in every way.

Gotham Steel Cookware Review

Overall

•The Gotham Steel Pans get very mixed reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, with many people finding them to be of mediocre quality.

• The pans are very thin and lightweight, which doesn’t bode well for heating performance.

• Some people may want a super light pan like this, though (for example, if they have ergonomic issues), so overall, you’re going to have to decide for yourself whether these pans are good quality; there’s a wide range of acceptable among the buying public.

• The company has a right to try to prevent further action against them by including an Arbitration Agreement in the purchase of the pan. However, this Agreement is most likely meaningless as the buyer has not signed anything agreeing to it.
